DIRECTORS AND MANAGEMENT

Dr. Lawrence Dick, Ph.D., M.Sc., B.Sc.
President, Chief Executive Officer and Director

Dr. Dick is a professional geologist with more than 35 years experience in geology and mineral exploration. Beginning in 1973, he received an honors degree B.Sc. at the University of British Columbia and subsequently his M.Sc. and Ph.D. at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario.  He is the author and co-author of several publications and papers relating to geological sciences dating back to 1978.  He is a past President and Councilor of the Geological Association of Canada, Cordilleran Section as well as a Full and Fellow Member of the Society of Economic Geologists and the Geological Association of Canada respectively.

Beginning in 1979, he held increasingly responsible positions with Chevron Resources Company in the Americas to the level of Senior Staff Geologist where he remained until 1990. During his tenure with Chevron, he led the team that discovered the Golden Bear deposit in northern British Columbia in 1980.  In 1982, he led the team that discovered and developed to final feasibility stage, the Can Can gold-silver deposit in north-central Chile.  He is fluent in both English and Spanish.  During 1990-1995 he was Manager of Exploration for Cia. Minera Dona Ines de Collahuasi, a joint venture corporation formed by Shell/Billiton, Chevron, Falconbridge and Anglo American to explore the large Collahuasi landholdings in northern Chile.  The resultant discoveries of approx. 1.5 billion tonnes of copper-molybdenum reserves have now been developed into one of the world’s largest operating copper-molybdenum mines.  For his efforts in Chile during these years, in 1993 he was awarded the “Chevron Chairman’s Award” and in 1994, the “Mente et Malleo Award” at the Chilean Geological Congress for the most successful exploration team in Chile during the years 1991-1994.  From 1995-2001, Dr. Dick founded General Minerals Corporation, a TSX company specializing in mineral exploration in Latin America and China.  General Minerals technical successes included the discovery of the Vizacachitas porphyry copper deposit (Chile), the Escalones copper-gold skarn/porphyry deposit (Chile), the Atocha silver deposits (Bolivia) as well the discovery and exploration of more than 30 base and precious metals targets throughout Latin America.  More recently from 2002 to 2006 he served as President & CEO of Continuum Resources. Earlier in 2008, he joined Baron International Finance Canada as a Technical Director.

Herrick Lau
Chief Financial Officer and Director

Mr. Lau is the Vice President, Corporate Finance for Baron Global Financial Canada Ltd. He has prior experience as CFO for various listed companies and 15 years experience in the investment banking industry. His industry practice as a finance executive in public companies involves developing financing strategy, liaising with external parties, devising business development plans and maintaining compliance with corporate governance. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charter holder and has a BBA and a MA in Finance, both from Simon Fraser University. 

Andrew Cheng
Director

Mr.Cheng is a co-founding director of Cheng & Cheng Limited, Certified Public Accountants, in Hong Kong. He studied accountancy at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and was admitted as a Certified Public Accountant in Hong Kong in 1991. Mr. Cheng has over 30 years of experience in the accounting and taxation fields. Prior to establishing his own practice, he worked as an assessor for the Hong Kong Inland Revenue Department for 12 years. Mr. Cheng is a fellow member of each of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, the Taxation Institute of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (Practicing).

Ringo Hui
Director

Mr. Hui graduated from the London School of Economics with a master degree and a bachelor degree in Management. He began his career with Bates Hong Kong, a 4A’s advertising agency account service team with clients such as Nokia, KFC, Wyeth and Simmons. He then moved to a private equity firm based in Hong Kong and helped the listing of a number of public companies including Neo Alliance Minerals Inc. (TSXV: NAM). He left the company in December 2006 and joined the Baron Group in May 2007. Mr. Hui is currently an associate director of Baron Capital Limited in Hong Kong, responsible for cross-border M&A activities, IPO’s and other direct investment initiatives.

Robert Wolfe, P.Eng.
Director

Mr. Wolfe was an exploration geologist and consultant for some 30 years. He was involved in the formation and management of several exploration syndicates, backed by major mining companies such as Placer Development, Noranda Mines, Homestake Silver Mines, Granby Mining, Home Oil, Asbestos Corp. and El Paso Oil and Gas.   On the corporate front, he was a founding director of Prism Resources and Polestar Exploration. As Vice President and Managing Director of Polestar, he developed one of the largest garnet deposits in the world and conducted feasibility and environmental impact studies.

William Ng
Director

Mr. Ng is the President of Spectrum Management Ltd., a prominent company providing janitorial services in Vancouver, Edmonton and overseas.  He has been in the industry since 1978. Before running his own business, he worked for major janitorial companies in Calgary and Vancouver, with extensive coverage in providing cleaning consultancy to educational institutions, top grade commercial buildings, hospitals, medical centres and retail shopping malls.  Currently, the servicing coverage of his business is in excess of 6 million sq. ft. of commercial and retail space in the Greater Vancouver area and Edmonton. He is well conversant in the people sector and has established close connections in the investment industry, particularly in providing professional consultancy on investment projects in China.
